Turisme de Barcelona, in cooperation with the Union of Catalan Art Galleries, has published a map in printed and online versions that features several itineraries for enjoying 52 art galleries in Barcelona and Catalonia.
These art galleries, which are entirely private enterprise establishments, reinvented themselves during the financial crisis by opening up to foreign markets. In fact, almost 50% of their business now comes from international clients. The French and British occupy the top places, followed by clients from the USA, Germany and the Asian market and Central and South America.
The leaflet, with an initial print run of 40,000 copies in four languages, will be distributed through Turisme de Barcelona’s information points and in the city’s hotels, as well as being publicised at national and international fairs and in other spaces in the tourism sector. The online version can be consulted at www.visitbarcelona.com and has a search function that makes it possible to find the different galleries, check their opening hours and visit their websites.
