The Unique Shops guide adds 48 new traditional shops

There has been a spike in tax-free shopping due to the removal of the minimum spend and small local shops are reaping the benefits

Turisme de Barcelona has added 48 new shops to its guide. The consortium created this brand in 2017 as a way of identifying and promoting the city’s unique and distinctive products and services.

This strategy is aimed at visitors looking for and wishing to discover a different retail offer to the one they would find in other destinations, with the added value of making shopping a unique experience, while drawing attention to the destination’s most iconic shops.

Many of these shops are located in different neighbourhoods with the aim of attracting visitors to other parts of the city. They showcase the work of artisans, designers and local brands. You’ll find shops selling local gourmet produce, shops where you can discover the art and design of museums, and sustainable, responsible shops. The patisserie, Foix de Sarrià (Sarrià), the wine shop, the Celler Gelida (Sants), the espadrille shop, Espardenyes Barcelona (Eixample), and the spice and grain shop, the Graneria del Poblenou, are just some examples.
